Peperone Piccante Calabrese

My experience with these seeds seems to be very different from others who have reviewed. I am in zone 7 PA and had no problem germinating or growing indoors before transplanting in my raised bed garden. Not only did these wonderful little pepper plants flourish but grew to 7 ft tall spotlessly healthy plants with hundreds of fruit. I have pics of the tremendous growth, health and productivity. Couldn’t be happier!

Germination

I love this company and continue to support them. I have purchased these pepper seeds for some time now and while you will get good germination years and bad ones lately it’s been on the lesser end. It is not the fault of these great folks. I suspect it is more a problem with disease prevention. The department of agriculture put an import ban on pepper seeds due to a virus problem which also affects tomatoes called BRFV. I suspect, and it is only a suspicion, that the seeds are being irradiated to combat this virus. Which does work but can affect seed viability. So guess what, you need to buy plenty seeds to hopefully get some germination. And please do, and support the great work of this company.

Patience

As with all seeds, a little patience is needed. You will have great seasons and, well, duds. These are incredible peppers that we cherish and can every year. The last two, not so much. Germination rates were low and the plants that made it never thrived. But that does not mean they are bad seeds. So many factors play into the equation. This year so far not great results yet… but we are still waiting. Been doing some temperature adjustments. Trust me when they do germinate and thrive their are not to be missed. This is a great company with dedicated employees and with some patience you will be enriched.

Crazy Calabrese Peppers

These are absolutely Calabria in a seed. I received these pepper seeds as a gift along with my order. And what a gift indeed. Extremely prolific plants and We spent all of late summer and fall pickling them, making pepper jellies and just plain eating them off the plants. Hot? Yes! But if you remove the seeds they are a medium hot and either way they are stupendous. We will be ordering more and planting these until I’m under the dirt myself.
