Warning: Unless you are planting another variety of cucumber alongside the Montebello, or unless you are planting the entire packet of seeds, you may not get adequate pollination to produce cucumbers. For this reason, this variety is best suited for commercial or other large scale growers.
Hybrid from Franchi's Professional line. This is an excellent slicing cucumber suitable for market growers and for growing in greenhouses or high tunnels. It is gynoecious, which means flowers are all female so the yield is very high. However, 12% of the seed will be a pollenizer with male flowers, so this is not a variety suitable for gardeners who grow just a few plants. You need to grow almost all the seeds in the packet to benefit from the high yield potential.
Montebello F1 is resistant to multiple common viruses. Fruits are 7-8 inches, slender and cylindrical, dark green with light spines. Small seed cavity with slow seed development. Approx. 50 seeds.
Cucumbers are very sensitive to cold and should not be planted before the soil has warmed up to at least 65 degrees F. For more information on growing cukes, click here for our growing guide.
